Button Builder is part of a larger software collection, which is aimed at designing particular elements of a webpage. It is available for Windows Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, as well as various Mac OS X versions. Downloading and installing the application does not take long and you don't have to make any complex settings along the way.

The user interface has a simple layout and its controls are easy to understand. A preview takes up most of the window. It displays a button, with default settings, in three different states. You can see how your button will look in its regular state and how it will look when you hover with the mouse cursor over it or when it is clicked. All editing options can be found on several tabs, on the right side of the interface.

The available options can be used to edit a button's general characteristics, like text, dimensions or links, change design parameters, like colors, borders, shadows and so on, edit fonts and add icons. Some of these parameters can be disabled, but you can add new ones as well. The settings you make will affect the buttons in the preview area in real time. You can preview the buttons at any time, on a web browser of your choice.

A feature that gives Button Builder a clear advantage over other similar applications is the possibility of making the buttons adaptable to context and display space. This way, your buttons will automatically change their size, text or icons, based on where they are placed or if you resize the browser window. This is particularly useful if someone visits your website on a mobile device. The application allows you to resize the preview area and add markers and you can make different settings for each marker.
